NEURODISC is used to measure whether the patient can perceive two stimulated points as distinct. This test can be carried out on different body parts.

In the course of a examination a defined distance is choosen and locked. The choice of the distance (corresponding to the body part) is performed by rotating of both discs. The different body parts are labeled on the instrument.

Now the two points of the instrument are pressed slightly on the skin of the patient who can´t see this. Now the patient has simply to report whether he senses two or one points of pressure.

If the tested person reports inaccurate sensations this could be a sign for a polyneuropathy. Often this is found as a aftereffect of diabetes mellitus.
